Nella's background combines frontline criminal justice work, intervention delivery and applied theatre, with a particular interest in working with people with complex social, emotional and behavioural needs.
Nella holds a degree in Drama & Applied Theatre from the University of East London, where she developed an interest in using creative approaches with marginalised and at-risk groups. Her undergraduate research explored the use of applied theatre to address social issues experienced by young people educated in pupil referral units.
Since graduating, Nella has worked across a range of criminal justice settings, including as an Interventions Lead with Catch22 and in violence reduction with Category B male prisoners. Her work has included developing and delivering interventions, facilitating mediation and supporting rehabilitation and reintegration.
Alongside her work at The Forensic Psychologist Service, Nella is an Applied Theatre Facilitator with Unlock Drama CIC, delivering projects in prison and community settings addressing issues including substance misuse, violence, mental health and cycles of offending.
Nella is currently undertaking a Master's degree in Dramatherapy at Anglia Ruskin University, bringing together her experience of criminal justice, intervention work and applied theatre as she develops her therapeutic practice. She has a particular interest in how creativity and meaningful engagement can help people who may find more conventional forms of intervention difficult to access.
Within The Forensic Psychologist Service, Nella supports the day-to-day running of the practice, including professional liaison, diary and document management, and the secure handling of sensitive information.
Outside of work and study, Nella enjoys films, yoga and discovering new places to eat, having firmly established herself as a self-appointed foodie.
